my southern life embellished by a living faith in God

Manic Monday-2

I can’t believe it is Monday already. Where did the weekend go? As I get older the weekends go by even faster and I seem to get less and less done.

Well, wherever you are in your journey in life or your journey with God, I wanted to focus on a few verses of scripture today.

Oh, the picture above is where my blue birds live.  They come in the spring and build a nest for their babies.  If you watch them you can see they gather sticks, twigs and straw for their little homes.  They work diligently without a care in the world.  God provides everything they need.  Straw, water, food and shelter.  And yet we are his children, created in his image.  Do we dare to trust him for the same?

  • Matthew 6:28-34 King James Version (KJV)

“And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the thing of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”

Take a second look at verse 33. This verse is saying to give God first place in your life and he will give you these things. We often worry about food, clothes, and all kinds of things, but at the same time we have not given God first place in our lives.

Think about this. Where is God in your life? Does he have first place? He already knows your needs. Today give him first place in everything in your life and start to believe and have faith that he will uphold these words in the Bible.

I think we often look at these verses and want to believe that God will take care of us but deep down we have some doubts because we have not given him first place in our lives. We have not given him our all. We are not serving him first.

Start living today for God and you will start seeing changes in your life!
